AEA Women’s Commission Regional Meeting

Fifty-three women from 17 countries gathered in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (02–05 December 2024) for a wonderful week of sharing, learning, and fellowship at the 2024 Asia Evangelical Alliance (AEA) Women Leaders Conference.

The AEA Women’s Commission leaders convened for sessions focused on engaging, equipping, and encouraging around the theme of “Finding My Voice.”

The workshops included dynamic sessions that highlighted the significance of storytelling as a powerful tool for connection, healing, and empowerment. Dr Asia J Williamson, co-founder and co-director of One Rock International, and the founder of She Lives, led compelling sessions on the Value of Story, Overcome Obstacles, Identity and Intentionality, Community and Care/ Change, Endurance (VOICE). Her insights challenged and inspired participants to consider how their own stories can foster transformation and bring about change.

Dr Peirong Lin, Deputy Secretary General of Operations for the WEA, enlightened attendees with an informative session on the Theological Understanding of Gender Equality, encouraging participants from a biblical perspective. StacieNicole Simmons, Media and Communications Development Officer, led a session on the Heart of a Woman in God (compassionate, committed, and on course), highlighting the significance of identity and purpose in Scripture.

All in all, our time in Kuala Lumpur was enriching and impactful! The event underscored the value of fellowship and collaboration in addressing shared challenges and opportunities through the power of story. The carefully crafted conference schedule intentionally incorporated daily worship, devotionals, and facilitation by various Women Commission leaders from an array of Asian countries. Each leader brought forth their uniqueness, forming a beautiful picture of diversity in unity.

It was a delight to see many Women Commission members bring their daughters, disciples, and emerging women leaders to gain exposure beyond their national boundaries. The opportunity to connect with so many inspiring voices in the shared space of faith and collaboration was truly transformative. Each session fostered meaningful dialogue, empowerment, and connection, reminding us of the strength found in community and the beauty of shared purpose. Some of the feedback from the delegates says it all:

“The conference was very useful and fruitful for my service and mission when I go back to my community.” – Cambodia

“Thank you for the amazing service by the small & mighty team, for the great diverse group of women, and the different uniqueness of leadership observed from around the region, yet hearts knit together in the same Spirit under one Lord! Hallelujah!!” – Malaysia

“That my story matters, that the Lord’s hand has been on me through it all, that grief is a journey, and it should not be rushed.” – Anonymous
