Women’s Commission Nairobi Regional Leaders Consultation

The 2024 World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) Women’s Commission Regional Leaders Gathering brought women from nine regions: Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Europe, Central Asia, Latin America, the Middle East/North Africa, North America, and the South Pacific together in Nairobi, Kenya (14-18 July) for a time of equipping, strategic planning, and encouragement.

The WEA Women’s Commission’s (WC) reach spans 129 nations, providing an internationally respected voice and platform for 300 million women of the Church. The WC partners with organizations for the benefit of women worldwide, such as the WEA task force on human trafficking, religious persecution, domestic violence and many others. The regional leaders and their respective teams work tirelessly to equip Christian women in their particular nations for every sphere of life – church, community, family and business – to contribute effectively to God’s purposes and plans.

This in-person gathering of our worldwide network was necessary to revise the Women’s Commission guidelines and begin developing a three-year strategic plan to equip, engage, encourage, and expand strategic activities to elevate girls and women around the world. Training topics included leadership development, domestic violence, resource mobilisation, mentoring, and discipleship. Such training is essential for regional leaders who in turn pass them on to the national alliances working under their supervision. This year’s conference theme, “For such a time as this” (Esther 4:14) seemed especially timely as the women shared their regional updates with enthusiasm and urgency. Women around the globe are poised for impact.

This 2024 international event was the first face-to-face regional gathering under Dr Seble Daniel’s leadership, (appointed Executive Director, March 2023) and it did not disappoint. Throughout the week, regional leaders continuously shared testimonies of how the session enriched them and how they plan to apply lessons learned in their respective regions. These women are energized for service.

The significance of such a gathering, worshipping side-by-side and engaging face-to-face, cannot be overstated. There is nothing quite like the people of God united in purpose.

The 2024 Women’s Commission Regional Gathering provided a unique space for women from all over the globe to worship, pray, connect, and be equipped, so that they could take what was deposited to their nations— “For such a time as this.”
